Images from Ouest Cameroun

These photographs were taken in Ouest Camerooon by Tchinda Etienne, former apprentice of Toussele Jacques. Although the master is still working, Tchinda Etienne has stopped working as a photographer and is now a farmer. The nagatives were given to David Zeitlyn in December 2001 when I visited him along with another former apprentice, Chila Joseph, now based at Bankim. No documentation to these photographs exists. Tchinda Etienne said they were taken in the 1960s and possibly early 1970s.
