Notes for it.html

  1.  One example which uses computer technology are my own digitised Mambila recordings available from http://lucy.ukc.ac.uk/dz/ - these have been available since 1993 at the Oxford internet site.
  2.  By contrast to Wiley, Stone who has worked with telephone sex operators seems to have a far better sense of the inter-relations between technology and sexuality.
  3.  Examples are numerous: they include GEM, X Windows and the MAC OS.
  4.  _The one is time. Counter to common versions this is not a full or proper four dimensional space - no transformation can take you from a spatial dimension to the time dimension in the way that rotataions interchange spatial dimensions._Only in a space with an odd number of dimensions will lights go out cleanly! Otherwise remnants of the light will linger (back-scattered radiation is the technical term). Since this does not happen we can be confident that the space we occupy has an odd number of dimensions.
  5.  One example is the wax cylinder recordings made in Southern Nigeria now in the Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford.
